Re: [Bug 158550] Crashes OOo and FireFox

l Would guess that the problem is actually the new SDL libraries, which don't
get along well with any ati cards, Fgrlx or Xorg powered. Try switching
anything with SDL in the name back to a feisty version, it may resolve the
problem temporarily.
However, the most accurate way to detect the problem is to run the application
that is crashing from a terminal by entering the program's name in. The name
can be found in Alterce (I think) ,which is the gnome menu editor(not included
by default, I think), by opening the menu editor and double clicking on the
name of the program. Then you would see a application path below a title. simply
copy the second line and paste it in a terminal. Using the broken theme , fool
around until you get errors, and feed us any of those errors that have the
words gnome, resilience, or just anything you think could be related, and we
will have more evidence to solve this. This theme has been around since before
edgy. I really don't think the problem is with the theme itself, the odds are
rather low. It was last updated on Bazaar(Launchpad) 42 weeks ago by Daniel
Holbach ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) who made some minor changes to a script in the
package at that time and has been responsible for
other changes in it since it was uploaded to Launchpad.

Binary package hint: resilience-theme

This theme has been causing me problems for weeks and I didn't even know
it.

I started using this theme about the same time Gutsy went gold. Since
then FireFox has been crashing on me often, sometimes several times a
day. To make matters worse, OpenOffice.org Base started freezing up
whenever I tried to edit a table or start a new project.

I have been looking for problems in FireFox and Base and I couldn't find
anything useful.

Tonight I randomly changed my theme to Clearlooks. Base runs perfectly
and FireFox is running faster and hasn't crashed yet.

I am running Gutsy with the ATI-FGLRX (possibly the real problem)
driver. I am not using any desktop-effects. All of my packages come from
the default Ubuntu repos.
