[Bug 159126] Re: Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool
gnome-power-manager is now included. For intrepid, we'll see about coming up with an alternative solution. ** Changed in: xubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 159126] Re: Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool
gnome-screensaver can't do it. You need the gnome-power-manager tool installed. If it is in fact installed, then the gnome-screensaver has a button "power management" that calls it. Without it installed, all the screensaver can do is decide how long to wait before showing the screensaver, and what screensaver to use, but nothing about shutting down the screen or not. -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Have you checked the gnome-screensaver options to see if it can prevent shutting down your LCD screen? -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 159126] Re: Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool
+1. Issue still present in Hardy live-current 3-2 iso. When introducing a user to xUbuntu (ex. if they have an older laptop not capable enough for gnome), this adds an additional step for configuring the device for best use; some sort of power management utility needs to be installed by default in xUbuntu. -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Changed to xubuntu-meta, since this is xUbuntu specific. ** Changed in: xubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => xubuntu-meta -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 159126] Re: Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool
I meant to say "sleep" instead of "power off", in all of the above. Sorry for any confusion. The issue is that monitors are put to sleep in Xubuntu but there is no GUI to control that. -- Xubuntu is missing a power preferences setup tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
