Re: [Bug 162251] Re: Wireless can not connect on roaming, can on manual
Thanks for the support. I got it working on Ndiswrapper and Madwifi lately, love to see it work from install though. Maybe a good idea letting that atheros layer work that enables on install (it does not work on most cards) Thanks Joey On Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 2:05 AM, Alexander Sack a...@jwsdot.com wrote: we have a different driver stack for atheros nowadays, so this issue is unlikely to still exist in its reported form. I have the same bug on a 32-bit Compaq Presario 2100 laptop. My wireless is Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset, driver=hostap. I forgot: here ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=632115 ) are other users experiencing the same problem. It seems to be related to 64bit version only. [Bug 162251] Re: Wireless can not connect on roaming, can on manual
I also have problems to get Atheros Wireless AR5007EG working on my Ubuntu Gutsy 64bit. I don't know if it's the same problem. Anyway I saw that there are working wireless driver (or patch) both with ndiswrapper (net5211.inf) or with madwifi: anyway these solutions only works on 32 bit systems. My problem is: I can see wireless networks, I can select them to connect, but no success. I also tried to install wicd instead of Ubuntu Network-manager. Still no luck. If you say me how to connect manually, I can try to see if I can connect. Please tell me if it's a duplicate or if I have to open another bug report. I'm not 100% sure it is the same problem. Hey I tried NO encryption (open connection) WEP and WPA And still, when i use manual it can connect but it can't on roaming. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414793 is one and on the last 2/3 pages of http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=512828 and some others. [Bug 162251] Re: Wireless can not connect on roaming, can on manual
Ok. Concerning the threads you submitted, I saw some feisty-related bug posts and some my-wireless-dont-work posts, but nothing explicitely indicating that another ubuntu *gusty* user was not able to connect via the applet, but was able to connect by unchecking the roaming box and selecting manually the ESSID. Could you please specify precisely where you find a *gutsy* user with the same problem? We need at least one confirmation of the bug... Re: [Bug 162251] Re: Wireless can not connect on roaming, can on manual
Hello, Yes i tried using wireless on both of the laptops, SMC PCMCIA card on the T43 and the build in AR5007EG with ndiswrapper on the packard bell. I am using gutsy 7.10 (fully updated) And i experienced that multiple people encounter this problem (on the forum) Need anything else? Happy to help out.
