[Bug 1623022] Re: Very slow wireless with rt2800pci

2017-02-11 Thread Kzin
I have the same problem.

$ uname -a
Linux IT-001 4.4.0-62-generic #83-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 18 14:10:15 UTC 2017

  Bit Rate=52 Mb/s   Tx-Power=20 dBm
  Retry short limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
  Power Management:on
  Link Quality=70/70  Signal level=-33 dBm
  Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
  Tx excessive retries:2173  Invalid misc:4912   Missed beacon:0

$ apt list linux-firmware -a
Listing... Done
linux-firmware/xenial-security,xenial-security,xenial-updates,xenial-updates,now
 1.157.8 all [installed,automatic]
linux-firmware/xenial,xenial 1.157 all

My card uses this driver, but I don't think it supports the 5Ghz network
mode. Andrea's workaround does not work for me.

[Bug 1623022] Re: Very slow wireless with rt2800pci

2016-09-26 Thread Andrea
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Description changed:

  I have a Linksys WMP600N (rt2800pci driver). My wireless connection is
extremely slow and unstable. I am using Kubuntu 16.04, with Kernel 4.4.0-36 or
4.7.0-0. The speed test results are: DL: 2.02Mbps UL:0.05Mbps Ping:183ms , the
speed test with another PC with the same wireless network : DL:12Mbps
UL:1.20Mbps Ping:48ms.
  I have follow this guide:

[Bug 1623022] Re: Very slow wireless with rt2800pci

2016-09-16 Thread Carmine Paolino
I had the same problem and unsuccessfully tried:

1. the linux-firmware package from yakkety
2. kernel-4.6.3-yakkety
3. kernel-4.7.4
4. sudo modprobe rt2800pci nohwcrypt=Y
5. sudo iw reg set NL

While the newer kernels seemed to alleviate the problem, they didn't fix
it.

Then I reverted all the previously listed changes and turned the card's
power management off. That fixed it. However, since power management
would turn on every time it would connect to a network, I made a simple
NetworkManager script, that you can find at
http://askubuntu.com/a/825976/349291

The following are some relevant info about my system:

$ uname -a

[Bug 1623022] Re: Very slow wireless with rt2800pci

2016-09-15 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
