[Bug 162855] Re: add/remove help integration

2008-05-16 Thread wolfger
This bug report is incomplete and untouched for several months, and isn't
really a bug at all, as noted above. Now that Brainstorm exists, it is probably
better filed there.

 I am closing this out.

mouse, please be aware that wishlist items may never happen (especially
those as complex as you're presenting). You will probably have more
success filling a blueprint (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications )

Also a blueprint won't help a lot, since the tricky part is the
implementation plan. So it is not a good suggestion.

[Bug 162855] Re: add/remove help integration

2007-11-21 Thread Sebastian Heinlein
a. do spell chick.
b. enable Ubuntu to search in all Ubuntu Software Sources (link to Software
Sources).

GnomeAppInstall uses a different abstraction for software sources.
furthermore all Ubuntu sources are enabled by default.

c. search for Sources that maybe have this application (link to search
for Sources).

I don't know of any site with the corresponding information.

d. if it's a windows application, click here for linux replacements.
install/+bug/135263)

it would be better to show alternatives related to the application. The
problem is the mapping and who does it as mentioned in the above bug
report.

e. if it's application library, go to Synaptic package manager (link).

We could also search in the package list for a matching package. That
seems to be a good idea.

f. Report for a missing application (link).

Link to where? what should happen?

Generally I like the idea of providing the user possibilites in the not
found page.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting
aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on
an appropriate mailing list or forum. [WWW]
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists might be a good
start for determining which mailing list to use.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-app-install
