a. do spell chick. b. enable Ubuntu to search in all Ubuntu Software Sources (link to Software Sources). GnomeAppInstall uses a different abstraction for software sources. furthermore all Ubuntu sources are enabled by default. c. search for Sources that maybe have this application (link to search for Sources). I don't know of any site with the corresponding information. d. if it's a windows application, click here for linux replacements. The problem is the mapping and who does it as mentioned in the above bug report. e. if it's application library, go to Synaptic package manager (link). We could also search in the package list for a matching package. That seems to be a good idea. f. Report for a missing application (link). Link to where? what should happen?
