I can confirm this with Gutsy and current Hardy. Every time I enable the Nvidia 
driver with the restricted manager I get a blank screen after restart but 
system reacts normal and I hear the boot sound.
I have to add the line Option UseDisplayDevice   DFP-0 to the 
Screen section to activate the LFP. This doesn't happen in Feisty.
