I can confirm their is a bug. I've also reported something similar on reddit. I recently fixed a bug which prevented GDM from working (LP: #1686257) for people who had GDM installed but not Ubuntu GNOME. This is weird but for some reason, having some of the kde-telepathy package installed (not on my machine atm so can't really tell which two were), breaks my apt but makes gdm3 to work (while making me somehow break lightdm and sddm). Now I can't login to the previous ones, but can to gdm3. Also removing the package package with synaptic, makes gdm3 unusable again.
