so when the default is none, and somebody sends " \n" clearly no search domain is intended. So we should be more graceful at accepting broken input here. ** Also affects: netcfg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720244 Title: Leaving DNS blank during install, network doesn't come up after post- install boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1720244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1720244] Re: Leaving DNS blank during install, network doesn't come up after post-install boot
Frank, When i said ".\n" i did not mean that I meant: Press key [.] and then press [enter]. Two keyboard pushes as in submit "." rather than hit enter. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720244 Title: Leaving DNS blank during install, network doesn't come up after post- install boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1720244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1720244] Re: Leaving DNS blank during install, network doesn't come up after post-install boot
Specifying ".\n" worked and let /etc/network/interfaces look like: dns-search \n But the user experience is horrible. Can something like a whitespace trimming be done and/or adding a "\n" to the specified value if it doesn't exist?
To accept default of no value, you should use ".\n". If you simply did "\n", HMC submitted " \n" to d-i, thus you have submitted the answer " " for this value. Can you please at this screen do ".\n" to submit "accept default" which should not break the install?
