[Bug 1721995] Re: unknown-horizons DBUS_TYPE_INVALID

2017-10-16 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
>I do not use wayland, not compatible with the nvidia drivers ...

Oh, sorry, I didn't realize.

Could you try again now that bug 1721907 is fixed, and post any error
message you get if it still crashes? I tried on my machine with libsdl2
2.0.6+dfsg1-3ubuntu1 and I no longer get the DBUS warning message. I
didn't see any crash when running on xorg, but then again I don't have
nvidia. If you don't get a similar stacktrace to the one I pasted above,
that might be a separate issue regarding wayland.

>I tried to start through the command line and it hang,

Hm, that sounds different than the one I experienced. I got the crash
(stack trace) below in the wayland session, but if I logged in to for
instance the "Gnome on Xorg" session, it seemed to work as expected. It
looks like it doesn't support wayland yet, but that might be an upstream
and/or library issue. Again, it seems separate from the DBUS-issue.

No, it did not start. I tried to start through the command line and it
hang, I couldn't even control-c to get out of it. I'd to kill the
process.

[Bug 1721995] Re: unknown-horizons DBUS_TYPE_INVALID

2017-10-08 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I get the same warning or error message when attempting to run unknown-
horizons on Ubuntu artful. It looks like this might be a duplicate of
bug 1721907 based on the description and linked to patch. (Looks like it
will be uploaded soon, so should be possible to retest after a fix has
landed)

Btw, did the game start for you? It failed to start on my machine and I
got a longer stacktrace, but it seemed unrelated to the DBUS issue. I'll
test a bit more, but I'm tempted to report this crash as a separate
issue, especially since the DBUS one seems to be covered by the sdl2
bug.
