[Bug 1724359] Re: no network after boot
Verification-done-xenial, with 4.4.0-1010.15: I spun an openstack instance with a newly-built image built to include the kernel package from proposed; the system boots correctly and is reachable from the network, as shown in the attached log. ** Attachment added: "console-log (1)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1724359/+attachment/5005976/+files/console-log%20%281%29 ** Tags removed: verification-needed-xenial ** Tags added: verification-done-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724359 Title: no network after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1724359/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1724359] Re: no network after boot
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed- xenial' to 'verification-done-xenial'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-xenial' to 'verification-failed- xenial'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you! ** Tags added: verification-needed-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724359 Title: no network after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1724359/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1724359] Re: no network after boot
Mathieu has confirmed that a test kernel with CONFIG_DMI and CONFIG_DMIID enabled resolves the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724359 Title: no network after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1724359/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1724359] Re: no network after boot
I think this is simply because in Openstack, cloud-init-generator (well, ds-identify from cloud-init) looks at dmi, doesn't find the make/model data there since there isn't (because no CONFIG_DMI), and gives up doing anything else. Please enable CONFIG_DMI on the linux-kvm kernel.
