[Bug 172623] Re: Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled
Oh. That did it! Thanks a lot! Yaayy, I have my effects back! Finally! :D ** Summary changed: - Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled + Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled (Resolved) -- Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled (Resolved) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 172623] Re: Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled
The problem is you configured compiz to use virtual desktops which is not supported (in hardy we don't allow you to do this). Install compizconfig-settings-manager, go to System->Preferences->Advanced Desktop Effects Settings, click on General Options, go to the Desktop Size tab, and set Number of Desktops to 1. Then set horizontal size to however many viewports you want. -- Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 172623] Re: Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled
So... when I do a Ctrl+Left or Ctrl+Right, is that switching between workspaces or viewports? If it's switching between viewports, and Workspace Switcher works with viewports, I should be able to see the previews, but I don't.
The "workspace switcher" works with viewports. In GNOME terms viewports and virtual desktops (what most people call workspaces) are both "workspaces". -- Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Travis, Well, unless there's ever a viewport preview panel, I don't think I'll be using compiz again. :( -- Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You should use viewports, workspaces are not supported with compiz. ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher when Visual Effects are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 172623] Re: Windows don't show up on other desk previews on workspace switcher
Well, I just made another user ("guest"), and I can't seem to even enable Visual Effects on that one. Don't know why, it just says it can't enable it. Odd. However, when I turn off Visual Effects under my username, the problem goes away. I guess I'll just have to keep them off for now, until we can figure out the problem (if possible). Thanks for your report, Do you have enabled the Visual Effects? Does it happens without them? Which video card do you have?
