Does Warsow work if you disable Compiz? When the problem was occuring the cube rotation effect was also very slow to happen, and happened in just two steps (I pressed the key combo to trigger it, after a couple of seconds the cube jumped to slightly rotated, after a couple more it jumped to fully rotated). - If it is reproducable easily, can you reproduce it with the latest upstream version, too? I'm not keen on compiling the latest upstream, and I don't think that it is necessary with the new information, but I will do if required. Some perhaps relevant information - 2GHz Athlon XP, 512MB RAM, NVidia graphics with non-free driver, almost stock gutsy install using compiz and the ubuntu-studio theme.
