[Bug 173343] Re: Moving files to trash results in a permanent delete

2011-11-12 Thread Joachim Jungner
New bug reporter of old bug.

Selecting 'Move to Trash' removes the file completely, and it is not in
the trash can. The removed file is also flagged as 'Missing' by
Rhythmbox. (That is also a bit strange.)

It is reproducible both from playlist view and 'Music' view.

Basically two problems:
1. The user interface itself: It is far too easy to accidentally click 'Move to
Trash', when you really just want to remove it from the playlist. This is in
part exacerbated by the fact that there is no (visible) keyboard shortcut for
doing the safe thing, so you _have_ to use the menu with the closely placed
menu items.

2. Move to trash is apparently affected by a bug where the file is
removed permanently, or at least moved to an unknown location (not
trash).

Will create a new user and see if I can reproduce the problem again.

[Bug 173343] Re: Moving files to trash results in a permanent delete

2011-11-12 Thread Joachim Jungner
Created a 'rhythmboxtestuser' and copied a single folder of music (10
songs) to that user.

When using the 'Move to trash' function, the music file is correctly
placed in the trash can. (The file is still added to the 'missing files'
list, which is a bit strange, but maybe it is so by design.)

So. The problem appears to be user-specific.

I didn't change any properties for the test user, so it uses the brand
new (optional in 11.04, mandatory in 11.10) user interface, whereas my
'real' user has reverted to the old Gnome UI. I don't know if that's
relevant or not.

No need for another machine, just create another user by going to System
- Administration - Users and Groups and Add a new user, log into the
system with that user and test the same you're reporting here. thanks.

Did you try to reproduce the same with another new user? I cannot
reproduce it that works fine in my Gutsy and Hardy installation, thanks.

Thanks for your report, is that reproducible everytime you click on
Move to Trash? may you test with a new user?
