[Bug 174807] Re: Possible Major Security Bug
Sir, if you explicitly a) install a networked daemon b) change your password into something weak c) fiddle manually with filesystem rights, you deserve what you will get. There is no computing system that can in the end protect such suicidal users, and 99% of the users won't even by accident ever manage to do all that. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Possible Major Security Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 174807] Re: Possible Major Security Bug
Simply put a remote user or possible remote bot could log in as a basic user. Then set the root password and all users password to anything. causing a possible security risk. the hacker may then use ferret or some programs at his/her leisure to steel your information. or if you did it to yourself its only funny. -- Possible Major Security Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
