[Bug 176311] Re: ACPI Error [...] AE_NOT_FOUND - Frequency scaling not working at all on C2D T7500

2009-05-06 Thread Sergio Zanchetta
The 18 month support period for Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 has reached its end of life -
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-7.10-eol . As a result, we are closing the
linux-source-2.6.22 kernel task. It would be helpful if you could test the
new Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release and confirm if this issue remains -
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/904overview. If the issue still
exists with the Jaunty
release, please update this report by changing the Status of the linux
(Ubuntu)
task from Incomplete to New. Also please be sure to run the command below
which will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report. Thanks in advance.

apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic 176311

I think is better you upgrade your kernel. Turn on the repository
pre-releases. Work to me.

[Bug 176311] Re: ACPI Error [...] AE_NOT_FOUND - Frequency scaling not working at all on C2D T7500

2008-02-29 Thread Ronai
Hi.

I used you dsdt.dsl. So, there are two warnings:

DSDT.dsl 1793: Method (Z010, 2, NotSerialized)
Warning 1086 -^ Not all control paths return a value
(Z010)

DSDT.dsl 2444: And (Local1, 0x01)
Warning 1104 - ^ Result is not used, operator
has no effect

My dsdt.dsl has the same warnings. I removed it making:

1) in warning 1086 add before last }:

Return (Package (0x02)
{
0x00,
0x00
})

2) in warning 1104 add:

And (Local1, 0x01, Local1)

The dmesg output is:

1) Thats ok

[ 13.965572] ACPI: Looking for DSDT in initramfs... successfully read 41851
bytes from /DSDT.aml.
[ 13.965606] ACPI: Table DSDT replaced by host OS

but

2) Not ok

ACPI Error (psargs-0355): [\_PR_.CPU0._PSS] Namespace lookup failure,
AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_PR_.CPU1._PSS]
(Node c31271b0), AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Exception (processor_perflib-0234): AE_NOT_FOUND, Evaluating _PSS

[Bug 176311] Re: ACPI Error [...] AE_NOT_FOUND - Frequency scaling not working at all on C2D T7500

2008-02-25 Thread NicolaB
Yes, bios F.25 still broken, I've checked it also.

this is the fixed DSDT table for bios F.21 (sorry for delay)

First flash back to F.21 bios...

then just compile this DSDT.dsl (attached) with iasl -tc DSDT.dsl you
should obtain DSDT.aml without errors,

now do:

# cp DSDT.aml /etc/mkinitramfs/DSDT.aml
# mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-`uname -r`

should be enough (you may have to put DSDT.aml also in / )

then reboot and do a:

dmesg | grep DSDT

and look for:

[ 13.965572] ACPI: Looking for DSDT in initramfs... successfully read 41851
bytes from /DSDT.aml.
[ 13.965606] ACPI: Table DSDT replaced by host OS

if you did everythings ok, you should get cpufreq working.

it's a bios bug, I've solved it through a modified DSDT table to load at
boot thanks to an Intel developer in kernel-acpi ML.
