Public bug reported: I was running ubuntu 17.10 for months with no issues. After upgrading to 18.04, closing the lid regularly (but not always) results in either: 1. The display staying on with a frozen lock-screen, or 2. The display powered off, but the notebook still powered on.
In both cases the notebook does not respond. A five-second press of the power button to hard-reboot the computer is the only means of recovery. After powering the notebook back on, there are no files in /var/crash.
