[Bug 1782579] Re: nm-tray is missing a native Qt "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" menu

2019-04-13 Thread Walter Lapchynski
** Description changed:

- When clicking "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" when right-
- clicking the nm-tray applet, nothing pops up. Either installing xterm by
- default or the NetworkManager GNOME frontend would fix this, but there
- should really be a native dialog box.
+ Lubuntu 18.10 and on is using nm-tray for network connections.
+ Unfortunately it lacks a native connection editor and instead loads
+ `nmtui-edit` in a terminal. This is substandard and makes dealing with
+ things like VPNs impossible.

- This has been filed upstream here: https://github.com/palinek/nm-
- tray/issues/23
+ To be clear, with the switch to LXQt from LXDE, Lubuntu is attempting to
+ use applications that do not require GTK. The Ubuntu Release Team
+ imposes a requirement that prevents us from using cmst, otherwise it
+ would be a better choice.
+
+ Lubuntu is tracking development of this here:

** Changed in: nm-tray (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Triaged

** Summary changed:

- nm-tray is missing a native Qt "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information"
menu
+ nm-tray is missing a native Qt UI for editing connections

[Bug 1782579] Re: nm-tray is missing a native Qt "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" menu

2018-08-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I just clicked NM dialog on main screen on a daily image & noticed the
'connection info' & 'edit connections' boxes appear; xterm is not
installed, so the issue has been fixed I believe.

(it's possible its been fixed for days; and I just noticed; my current
daily image was downloaded about 18 hours ago)

[Bug 1782579] Re: nm-tray is missing a native Qt "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" menu

2018-07-19 Thread Simon Quigley
** Summary changed:

- lubuntu 32bit daily image 2018-07-18 nmtui-edit won't show; needs xterm (not
on image)
+ nm-tray is missing a native Qt "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information"
menu

** Description changed:

- i've listed it as relating to XTERM, because in my opinion the daily
- image needs XTERM, and it's missing..
+ When clicking "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" when right-
+ clicking the nm-tray applet, nothing pops up. Either installing xterm by
+ default or the NetworkManager GNOME frontend would fix this, but there
+ should really be a native dialog box.

- booting the x86 (32bit) daily image 2018-07-18, and I couldn't access
- "Edit Connections" or "Connection Information" in the bottom right
- applet.
-
- I compared to a 18.10 image on desktop (which has other DEsktops also);
- it loaded xterm and display info. I went back to this machine (32bit,
- dell d610) and `sudo apt install xterm` and then the "connection
- information", plus "edit connections" applet opened a window & let me do
- what I wanted to (or see connection info and see nmtui-edit window).
-
- missing XTERM package from daily-image in my opinion.
