Same problem here, on a Dell Mini10 using their factory installed Ubuntu 8.04 NR. Cheese seems to be working fine now. I can record video. I hadn't tried it since my last comment here, so I'm not sure what fixed it between then and now. This is marked as fix released, but I'm still having the problem that Simone describes above. My cam works fine in the preview, but when I start recording the camera shuts off. I've attached the output of the debug command you requested. I can confirm this in Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit. Almost identical behavior to what Simone reported above; photo taking works, video recording changes it to a black screen, disables camera, and prevents photo feature from working unless cheese is reloaded. It would be really nice to be able to take videos. Same here on hardy (cheese 2.21.5) Webcam works well , except when trying to capture video. Clicking on Start recording turns the input image black and switches the webcam off.
