[Bug 1798992] Re: Fresh desktop installation has packages pending autoremoval, pending updates
I agree this is a separate issue. I just did a fresh Kubuntu 19.04 amd64 UEFI installation (installer ISO downloaded on 2019-04-23) in Virtualbox, selecting the 'minimal' (set of installed packages) option and the 'install updates during installation' option set. After installation, sudo apt update succeeded without errors and sudo apt full-upgrade reported that many packages were pending installation and many others were pending removal. See the attached output for details. ** Attachment added: ""sudo apt full-upgrade" output after fresh minimal Kubuntu 19.04 installation" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1798992/+attachment/5277428/+files/apt.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798992 Title: Fresh minimal desktop installation has packages pending autoremoval, pending updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1798992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1801629 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801629 ** Description changed: Expected outcome: After installation, no packages should pend autoremoval (they should have been apt --purge autoremove'd during the installation) and (if 'install updates during installation' option is left enabled during installation) there should be no pending updates. Actual outcome: - Doing a 'minimal' (set of installed packages) subiquity installation of 18.10 with the (default) 'install updates during installation' option left enabled, you end up with many packages pending autoremoval, as well as pending updates. See below for apt CLI output. + Doing a 'minimal' (set of installed packages) subiquity installation of 18.10 with the (default) 'download updates while installing' option left enabled, you end up with many packages pending autoremoval, as well as pending updates.
