The linked Debian bug report says there is still a bug in the GUI version, but it would be great to have at least the commandline version in Ubuntu. (The current version in hardy & gutsy is completely useless, the latest upstream version and as I understand the last Debian version should work on the commandline, which is an improvement.) This bug still occurs in gnuvd. Either gnuvd should be fixed (adapted to the new website code), or it should be removed from the archive. People can use gtkvd with the --terminal option instead; it behaves exactly like gnuvd did.
