[Bug 1825990] Re: 4K Monitor Support

2019-12-01 Thread Felix Natter
As posted below, upstream does not know how to implement 4k autodetection in
swing,
but there are options for changing this manually which do work.

[Bug 1825990] Re: 4K Monitor Support

2019-06-03 Thread Felix Natter
hello Lonnie,

the problem is that one cannot safely detect the DPI (dots per inch) setting
from Java (swing)
(DPI is the relation between physical monitor size and resolution).

What we can offer is to guess some good settings only depending on the
resolution.
Would you think that this is a good idea? If yes, which settings would you
recommend for
4k monitors (I don't have such a device)?

Cheers and Best Regards,
Felix

Thanks Felix. That works good; here's a screenshot:

It would be really cool, for new users with 4K displays, if it would
detect their screen resolution and adjust this automatically.

hi Lonnie,

please change the settings at Tools->Preferences->Appearance->Look and feel!
You can (manually) increase the size of the menus/icons.

Cheers and Best Regards,
Felix

It seems that some changes were made.

The default sizes look bigger now. I can see the menu better. The icons are
still a little small but way better than before. Here's a screenshot:

+ Freeplane is a great package, but have you ever tried to use it on a 4K
  monitor?

The menus and tool bars are so small that you have to turn on Universal
Access > Zoom to use it.

Is there any way that Freeplane could detect high resolution monitors
and then somehow double or triple the size of its UI controls if
  detected?

2019-04-24 Thread Felix Natter
hello Lonnie,

I think there is no auto-detection, but there are options for making the menus
and icons larger:
Tools->Preferences->Appearance->Look and feel

Is that what you need?

Cheers and Best Regards,
Felix
