Hey guys, sorry. My email has been acting a little weird lately and sometimes I don't get messages, other times they are delayed by several days. Anyways, I got the notification that you guys were still wondering if this was a problem. You can mark this bug as Complete->Solved. Thanks to Rob Duff who uploaded the files that I didn't have, you guys have long since fixed this problem in the last version of Ubuntu! You guys rock man! Keep up the good work, and I sincerely apologize for not getting to you guys sooner and letting you know that it has been fixed. Thanks!! [Bug 183061] Re: Linksys WUSB54GS v2 does not work with ubuntu
The device I am having problems with is a WUSB54GS v2.1 instead of a v2.0, but I imagine it's not worth opening another bug until it's determined whether or not it is a unique problem. (Note that the S on the end denotes Speed Booster technology.. Really not sure if that affects compatibility or not...) When the device is plugged in to the USB port, there is no power or link light. It flashes for a split second and then disappears. Looking in the logs attached, it does appear to be detected by the system, although it ends up with "bad CDC descriptors". Unfortunately the HOWTO's didn't work for me. I may give them another try before I attempt to return the device. -- Linksys WUSB54GS v2 does not work with ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 183061] Re: Linksys WUSB54GS v2 does not work with ubuntu
** Description changed: The Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Speed Booster Version 2.0 (MODLE: WUSB54GS v2.0) is not detected under Ubuntu 64-bit at all (and therefor doesn't work one bit). In Ubuntu 32-bit, it is detected but does not work properly without an extreme amount of work and countless free hours of your time to make it work. As stated earlier, in Ubuntu 32-bit it is extremely hard to get the WUSB54GS v2.0 working if you even succeed at all, the only way A FEW PEOPLE have gotten this adapter to work is through the ndiswrapper and I can not get it to work at all in Ubuntu. It is suppose to be supported by the Network Manager right? I mean the WUSB54G v4 is but it has a problem connecting after Ubuntu 7.04. I've noticed that (along with many other people all over the net and Ubuntu forums who state the same thing) since after Ubuntu 7.04 the network manager does NOT function nearly as well. Sure it has built-in wireless but it's not detecting hardware like it used to. It used to be that all you had to do was install Ubuntu (this is around 6.10-7.04) and it would work. Pesto, enter your WEP/WPA/WPA2 key and you are good to go! No driver hassle, no ndiswrapper, no complicating steps, and no workarounds. It simply just worked. [Bug 183061] Re: Linksys WUSB54GS v2 does not work with ubuntu
Hey guys, I still see this problem in Ubuntu 8.10 (at least for the 64-bit edition). I am going to try the 32-bit edition right now and I will report back on that. But why doesn't the WUSB54GS v2.0 not work at all on 64-bit ubuntu? It works just fine on Windows. I know Windows is completely different from Ubuntu but Windows is still an operating system. Ubuntu is an operating system, so technically anything one OS can do another can do provided the effort is acheived. Now I'm demanding, as I don't code operating systems (I do however code for Windows), I can't tell you what to do and what not to do but I do know that getting the WUSB54GS v2.0 to work is possible. Back in Ubuntu 7.04 it was working PERFECTLY fine, just installed Ubuntu and it worked just like that, no extra work. It just simply worked. Now we are at Ubuntu 8.10 now and I don't see that anymore. You install Ubuntu and it DOES NOT WORK. It simply does not work without intense work and complications and frustration and hours on Google to get to work. On 64-but Ubuntu no matter how many hours you work on it, it won't work. See how big of a problem this is? Please I would like to help in every way I possibly can!! What information do you need? What version of Ubuntu do you need information from? 32-bit, 64-bit or both (since they both are not working)? I still don't understand why you guys took out Linksys wireless support since Ubuntu 7.10 it doesn't make any sence at all.
