By default kubuntu-kde4-desktop depends on kdm (not kdm-kde4). Will kdm-kde4 replace kdm (kde3) for hardy ? Google solved the problem. You have to install the package kdm-kde4 to have the greeter plugin configured. I installed this package and now I can lock the screen. Actually I have installed the named one. But problem existed before I installed this package. I used RC2 and RC1 before. Perhaps some relict from there?
