[Bug 1854383] Re: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations.
The workaround for Ubuntu MATE versions prior to 22.04 is to remove the `mate-netbook` package. It is Recommended only, so can be safely removed like so: killall mate-maximus sudo apt-get remove mate-netbook -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854383 Title: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations. [Bug 1854383] Re: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations.
This issue is caused by `mate-maximus` which is part of the `mate- netboot` package. `mate-netboot` doesn't get much upstream development attention so unlikely to fixed in the near future. Ubuntu MATE provides several resolution-efficient panel layouts, so removing `mate-netbook` from Ubuntu MATE is the best option for addressing this issue. mate-netbook was removed from ubuntu-mate-meta 1.281: - https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-meta/1.281 ** Changed in: marco (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Also affects: mate-netbook (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: ubuntu-mate ** Also affects: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Martin Wimpress (flexiondotorg) ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854383 Title: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations. Yes, it is. Install gnome-calendar as deb-package and try to resize its window by dragging its window border. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854383 Title: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations. [Bug 1854383] Re: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations.
Running in VirtualBox with Ubuntu MATE 20.04 20200119 daily. I can confirm that this behavior exists. However, following the steps listed to reproduce this I was unable to get this to occur. Performing the steps multiple times. On the 3rd attempt this behavior manifested itself. After this occurred the behavior repeated itself consistently. ** Attachment added: "VirtualBox_Ubuntu-20.04_19_01_2020_17_11_11.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1854383/+attachment/5321600/+files/VirtualBox_Ubuntu-20.04_19_01_2020_17_11_11.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854383 Title: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations. I can confirm this issue. Many modern GNOME applications are affected.
