Could you stop adding comments there? I'm running Gutsy Gibbon with all updates. This happens to me also. In fact this has happened with all my installations of Gutsy on entirely different hardware. The only similarity is that I've been using Samba, and I got into the habit of using /mnt for my mounts. It seemed like a good place to do it. It seems I mis-read the bug. Are you guys saying that proper behaviour is that a mount in /mnt is not supposed to show up on the desktop, and nautilus? Also that /media is the only folder where a mount is supposed to? I've been using /mnt since Edgy Eft. It just sounded like a better place mnt vs. media? I think the behaviour should be that drives defined in fstab shouldn't appear on the desktop (and nautilus bookmarks). This is how it works for me in everything except Hardy. That way all the internal drives don't clutter things up, but if you plug an external drive in it is easily accessible.
