Steps to reproduce:
1. Open terminal
2. Create a test file:
$ touch testfile
3. Enter:
$ fio testf
4. Press tab to trigger completion of filename
5. It does not complete

Note that if trying the above steps as root with 'sudo -s' tab
completion does work.
