Comment #5 indicates that 4096M of memory was used for test and I wonder how much memory was used in the test on scaleway mentioned in comment #7. The Ubuntu autopkgtest infrastructure by default runs on systems with 2G of memory. I tried an arm64 focal VM on scaleway, and there the test passed as well :/ So it must be something very particular to our infrastructure. I managed to get this to work if I run the test under strace (!). I also enabled debugging, and have two files I'm going to attach.
