[Bug 1872556] Re: Fingerprint reader after reboot not working
>From the logs it looks like it's more a device issue (and thus libfprint one). Can you please provide more debug info by changing your /lib/systemd/system/fprintd.service adding `Environment=G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all` line in the `[Service]` section? (and post again your `journalctl -b0 -u fprintd.service`) ** Changed in: fprintd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872556 Title: Fingerprint reader after reboot not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fprintd/+bug/1872556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Adding some important information as well. My home dir is encrypted by ecryptfs. Noticed that the exact same issue I have exists also on another thread https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libfprint/+bug/998367 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872556 Title: Fingerprint reader after reboot not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fprintd/+bug/1872556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1872556] Re: Fingerprint reader after reboot not working
I have the same issue but with a difference. After a reboot, I get the 'swipe finger to login' message. I swipe, it tries to login and immediately logouts. I then have to wait for the timeout to enter the password, I login and logout, and the fingerprint now works without any issue. Message on syslog is the same as above mentioned fprintd[1154]: Device responded with error: 789 fprintd[1154]: Ignoring device due to initialization error: The driver encountered a protocol error with the device.
