Public bug reported: Since I did the upgrade to 20.04 vlc does no longer close correctly. If I close vlc while a video is still playing, the window disappears but a vlc process keeps active in my process-list. Also the little systray- icon stays. If I browse thru many videos a lot of vlc processes clutter up my system. If the video is stopped, vlc closes regularly.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a video with vlc 2. Close the player while the video is playing What happens: The vlc window vanishes, but a vlc process stays active in the background, consuming memory. If enabled the systray-icon also stays ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: vlc 3.0.9.2-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-28.32-generic 5.4.30 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-28-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat May 2 20:32:09 2020 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-04-07 (25 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Beta amd64 (20200402) SourcePackage: vlc UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876505 Title: vlc creates "zombie-process" when closing while video is playing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1876505/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
