[Bug 187755] Re: Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin"
I was also encountering the same error. In attempting to work around the issue, I tried using Finch which worked until an MSN account was enabled, which promptly crashed Finch. Starting Pidgin with --nologin option allowed Pidgin to work normally, and--as long as no MSN accounts were enabled--allows for a restart without the --nologin option. [Bug 187755] Re: Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin"
After i have done unset G_DEBUG pidgin works again, but only if it is run from terminal, doing [alt]+F2 and entering pidgin it still crashes. -- Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187755 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Got the same error. If my network (internet) connection is not up, the crash first happens when i get network again. pidgin -d [...] (22:46:14) nautilus: don't save blist online. [Bug 187755] Re: Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin"
I presume this is what has been reported already in some private bugs, and was reported upstream at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=513495. Indeed the "unset G_DEBUG" workaround fixed the problem for me. -- Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187755 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've also experienced this. In fact, it's a few different apps that all crash with the same error (compiz is doing the same for me, but it may be when it calls emerald that it happens). ** Changed in: pidgin (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187755 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
