[Bug 187755] Re: Pidgin crashes with "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" unless started using "strace pidgin"

2008-01-31 Thread Doug Wibby
I was also encountering the same error. In attempting to work around the
issue, I tried using Finch which worked until an MSN account was
enabled, which promptly crashed Finch. Starting Pidgin with --nologin
option allowed Pidgin to work normally, and--as long as no MSN accounts
were enabled--allows for a restart without the --nologin option. If this
method works for this problem, this bug might be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187604

Got the same error. If my network (internet) connection is not up, the
crash first happens when i get network again.

2008-01-31 Thread Frank Quist
I presume this is what has been reported already in some private bugs,
and was reported upstream at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=513495. Indeed the "unset
G_DEBUG" workaround fixed the problem for me.

2008-01-31 Thread ScislaC
I've also experienced this. In fact, it's a few different apps that all
crash with the same error (compiz is doing the same for me, but it may
be when it calls emerald that it happens).
