It seems that with kernel v5.9-rc1 this issue is solved. awaiting the
official release to confirm that it is working correctly, but will also
test with new release candidates and let you know.

[Bug 1883521] Re: Hang on shutdown/restart

2020-08-17 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last -rc kernel works and the first -rc kernel doesn’t
work from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the working version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the non-working version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If it still have the same issue,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the offending commit.

[Bug 1883521] Re: Hang on shutdown/restart

2020-08-11 Thread Dídac
Just installeed ubuntu 20.04.01 and continues happening.

I tested with last mainline kernel (linux-image-
unsigned-5.8.0-050800-generic_5.8.0-050800.202008022230_amd64.deb) and
continues happening the hang with the "task shutdown:1 blocked for more
than 120 seconds. [...]Code: Bad RIP value" message too.

I am experiencing the same issue, also with Aopen DE6340 in a business-
related application that needs to run on this hardware. Has this been
recognized as an issue or is there any extra information I can provide?

[Bug 1883521] Re: Hang on shutdown/restart

2020-06-15 Thread Dídac
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected uec-images

** Description changed:

  I installed ubuntu 20.04 in an Aopen DE6340 which contains an "AMD Ryzen
  Embedded V1807B with Radeon Vega Gfx" and the installation went
  correctly, but at the end at the moment of unplugging the iso and
  restarting the computer never restarts, appears periodically about hung
  task timeout and never restarts.

  I tried in the installed system with Ubuntu 5.4.0-37.41-generic 5.4.41
  and linux-image-5.4.0-28-generic and it's happening in both versions.

  With mainline kernel its working correctly until linux-image-
  unsigned-5.4.21-050421-generic_5.4.21-050421.202002191431_amd64.deb from
  https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.4.21/,  after 5.4.22
  it's starting to happen the same.

- Maybe related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-
- hwe/+bug/1880041 because there are a lot of coincidences, but the fix is
- released and continues happening.
