[Bug 1884366] Re: package libkrb5-3 1.16-2build1 failed to install/upgrade: unable to make backup link of './usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libkrb5.so.3.3' before installing new version: Input/output error

Yes.

And trying to run

  $ sudo apt upgrade

as well where inevitably the issue described at #2 occurs for at least
this package and libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 and the solution to proceed is to
delete the referenced file and continue.

2020-06-22 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Your dmesg is full of errors like these:
[ 19.583604] SQUASHFS error: zlib decompression failed, data probably corrupt
[ 19.583608] SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block
0x8116e5ed
[ 19.583610] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache entry [8116e5ed]

Are you running from a cdrom/flash drive?
 /cow 8250080 1226092 7023988 15% /

In any case, this is filesystem corruption, or bad disk/cdrom, and not a
bug in the krb5 package.

For every error when executing

sudo apt upgrade

unable to make backup link of './usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libkrb5.so.3.3'
before installing new version: Input/output error

remove the referenced file

sudo rm -rf /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libkrb5.so.3.3

then proceed.
