This bug was fixed in the package hal-cups-utils - 0.6.13+svn86-0ubuntu3 --- hal-cups-utils (0.6.13+svn86-0ubuntu3) hardy; urgency=low * debian/patches/03_disable_on_turn_off_fixes.patch: Improve read-out of serial number when a printer is disconnected or turned off; use also the bus type for identifying printers; fixed bug which made serial numbers getting ignored when identifying a printer. Do not disable any printer which is driven by the HPLIP CUPS backends when they are turned off.
