Public bug reported: I installed oomd hoping that it will kill my browser whenever it's time for me to restart it, but nothing is happening. Today I desided to check why, and apparently, the oomd service is not being started, because a precondition which checks for /usr/bin/oomd_bin being an executable file fails.
This is no wonder, considering that there is no file with such name in the package. I tried editing the service definition to refer to /usr/bin/oomd instead, but that didn't work either. # apt policy oomd oomd: Įdiegta: 0.3.1-1 Kandidatas: 0.3.1-1 Versijų lentelė: *** 0.3.1-1 500 500 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status # systemctl status oomd ● oomd.service - Userland out-of-memory killer daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/oomd.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: inactive (dead) Condition: start condition failed at Thu 2020-08-20 17:09:55 EEST; 1min 58s ago └─ ConditionFileIsExecutable=/usr/bin/oomd_bin was not met Docs: man:oomd_bin(1) https://github.com/facebookincubator/oomd#configuration rugp. 19 09:00:44 carbon systemd[1]: Condition check resulted in Userland out-of-memory killer daemon being skipped. rugp. 20 17:09:37 carbon systemd[1]: Condition check resulted in Userland out-of-memory killer daemon being skipped. rugp. 20 17:09:55 carbon systemd[1]: Condition check resulted in Userland out-of-memory killer daemon being skipped. # dpkg -L oomd /. /etc /etc/default /etc/default/oomd /etc/init.d /etc/init.d/oomd /etc/oomd /etc/oomd/oomd.json /lib /lib/systemd /lib/systemd/system /lib/systemd/system/oomd.service /usr /usr/bin /usr/bin/oomd /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/oomd /usr/share/doc/oomd/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/doc/oomd/copyright /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/auxiliary_plugins.md /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/configuration.md.gz /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/core_plugins.md.gz /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/drop_in_configs.md.gz /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/io_cost.md /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/production_setup.md /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/stats.md /usr/share/doc/oomd/docs/writing_a_plugin.md.gz /usr/share/man /usr/share/man/man1 /usr/share/man/man1/oomd.1.gz ** Affects: oomd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I installed oomd hoping that it will kill my browser whenever it's time for me to restart it, but nothing is happening.
