[Bug 190350] Re: Disk changes from sda to hda in new the kernel 2.6.24.7
I could have rather marked it as a question. I thought my drive was mistakenly being run on SATA drivers. So does that means that hard disks these dayscan be run on any drivers. I mean, my concern is that it does not affect the hard disk in the long run. -- Disk changes from sda to hda in new the kernel 2.6.24.7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/190350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 190350] Re: Disk changes from sda to hda in new the kernel 2.6.24.7
Thank you for reporting this and attempting to make Ubuntu better. However, I do not believe that this is a bug. There is no guarantee that device names will be stable across kernel versions (or hardware changes). This is why Ubuntu uses UUIDs wherever possible (in fstab, etc) - these do not change when the device node changes. If something no longer works with this new device naming, please state what it is, so we can investigate and fix it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Disk changes from sda to hda in new the kernel 2.6.24.7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/190350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
