[Bug 191424] Re: xubuntu 64 not on grub bootlist

2008-04-27 Thread marisano
Hmm. It appears that Xubuntu is not in your menu.lst. Did you install it
onto a different hard drive rather than a separate partition? If so, try
changing your boot order so that the Xubuntu-laden HD comes first.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 191424] Re: xubuntu 64 not on grub bootlist

2008-02-26 Thread TerryG
Triaged to Incomplete. Sometimes GRUB gets confused with large numbers
of disks and/or partitions. It may simply be a bad GRUB entry. Your
Ubuntu install shows up as (hd0,6) which is the first hard disk (0) and
7th partition (6). It looks like you have Windows in the first 5
partitions (hd0,0) to (hd0,4). GRUB also has 2 other Linux
installations at (hd0, 5) and (hd0,9). Since you have attempted to
perform a triple boot, I'm going to define this as an edge case. Since
ubiquity installer worked correctly for the first Linux install
(hd0,6), I'm going to assume that this is a GRUB issue. It's a
reasonable expectation for ubiquity installer to successfully install as
a second OS and protect the original Windows installation. There is
less of an expectation for ubiquity to install a third OS without some
expertise.

Setting up triple boot requires some knowledge of how Linux boots and
GRUB. It's not exactly plug-and-play.
