Setting to 'invalid' as the user interface has changed dramatically since 2005. The window borders (as of Ubuntu 10.10) of all applications are extremely thin. Because of this it is very hard to 'catch' them with a mouse in order to resize the window. A possible solution is to use a resize grip (that small area at the bottom right corner of some windows which implement it). This resize grip should be displayed and handled by the *window manage*. That way all resizeable windows will have it. It is instructive to see how Mac OS X did it. I have had this issue from version 7 of Ubuntu until the current 10.10. This is VERY ANNOYING. I do not agree with the statement that this is an app bug: I do agree that it would be nice to have the right corner with this, but the corner without the triangle should work normal as well. At the moment I get RSI when trying to enlarge a window. Confirmed in Maverick. I had the opportunity to resize Firefox, Evolution, Terminal, Synaptic on any outer surface but the margin of error was very small and it would be helpful to have such a handle.
