Hi Greg, Thank you for getting back to us and providing the history. But as I see, every command (that is, be it a usual upgrade or a new installation) is failing the same way, that is: "Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" So I believe something in your system is broken and I cannot guess what is it since there is not enough information for that. Since this isn't a bug in the package and is a local issue on your system, I am going to mark this bug as "Invalid". Thank you for your response. Note that I am a total novice. However, I did manage to find a log of a recent Software Updater that reported "Package operation failed" This always happens. Attached is the most recent log file which shows that "postfix" returned an error code. What more info do you need about this? How do I fix it? Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. I tried to install and upgrade postfix in a container running Ubuntu 21.04 and I could not reproduce the error you mentioned. Could you please share the logs containing the error when you upgrade the package? Also the postfix config file in case you have made any customization in it. Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would: provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to "New".
