[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage
I'm having a hard time with this being marked as a firefox bug Please run firefox with the following command firefox --safe-mode Does thisw happen on firefox-3.0? if so please run firefox-3.0 --safe-mode Also this bug report is not confirmed yet since no one but reporter seems to be able to reproduce I urge you to test with another computer to see if you can reproduce this. ** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: firefox = firefox-3.0 Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- Firefox crashes while loading a webpage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage
How much ram? Try running in a terminal: firefox --debug then note any errors after a crash. In another terminal, monitor your memory with free Sometimes memory leaks (especially with java applications) will cause unannounced crashes. Without a repeatable crashing web link, this is hard to replicate. I've been running 2.0.0.6 with crashes for certain streaming websites like www.cocgospel.com using flashchat, but I've watched the memory fill up and when swap gets full, firefox gets dumped. I've also got 2.0.0.12 running under Foresight Linux, but no crashes yet. Marking as incomplete until repeatable behavior is observed by me or others with 2.0.0.12. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Firefox crashes while loading a webpage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage
After starting with --debug I was able to use it for almost a week without a single crash until now. The problem seems to be with the flash player extension, however this time it just hanged - didn't just disappear as previous times. I have like 512mb of ram and 1gb swap and I've been using firefox on a system with far less resources without having problems. ** Attachment added: ffd.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12273204/ffd.txt -- Firefox crashes while loading a webpage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage
Thanks for your testing and output. Triaged to Confirmed. Certainly looks like a segmentation fault caused by flash plugin. Did you notice if you were out of RAM at the time of crash and filling up swap space (near your 1 GB limit)? I've had frequent crashes from the site cocgospel.com using flashchat and listening to the stream at the same time. The crash corresponds precisely at the point I run out of swap. Memory use increases linearly with time until crash. And this is repeatable. My workaround is to use XMMS to listen to the music stream, and use the pop-up version of Flashchat which seems to eliminate the memory leak. Can you provide a website where this crash occurs consistently? That would help. When firefox hangs, you can use: sudo killall firefox-bin to exit and regain your desktop. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- Firefox crashes while loading a webpage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage
I didn't notice swap ehxaustion, I'll be watching it next time. Interesting thing is that it happens even 5 seconds after launching firefox, so I don't know if the problem could be related to swap. No particular website causes it on a regular basis. -- Firefox crashes while loading a webpage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
