Although noted that this may be Wayland related I am having the problem
on a regular X11 session in Xubuntu Jammy.

Thanks for reporting, marking confirmed since I got the same seg fault.

It looks like this is related to the wayland session somehow. When
switching to the xorg session, I did not see any seg faults on startup.
