[Bug 1960923] Re: needrestart is being skipped since dpkg has failed

2022-02-17 Thread Dave Jones
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1961185 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1961185

Thanks for the report. This has been replicated in another bug (LP:
#1961185) and, although this was the earlier report, I'm going to mark
this as a duplicate of that one as the later report's got full logs
which'll make debugging it a little easier.

Nonetheless, thanks to both of you for the detail included -- there's
definitely some issue with upgrading from the SRU'd linux-firmware-raspi
6 to the jammy version (I'd tested two impish->jammy upgrades which
included the renamed package, but both prior to the SRU of the new
firmware and evidently dpkg-divert is choking on one of the required
renames).

   package linux-firmware-raspi 6-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: new
linux-firmware-raspi package pre-installation script subprocess returned error
exit status 2

Same here. Fix for me was to manually uninstall linux-firmware-raspi2
first. The new package installed fine after that.
