[Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed
I'm unsure if the synaptic driver is still of interest for some users and if we should conflict on it which would remove the ability to use it and control the settings from the cmdline. The settings could display some more informative text as 'the controls don't work with xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, uninstall it to have working settings' -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970284 Title: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1970284/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed
Not having the control would have disguised the problem for me. It wasn't only with touch te clicu. There were a number of other similar issues in other controls. Maybe I don't understand your solution, so it seems to me the solution that you don't allow synaptic and libinput to be installed simultaneously is better, but I don,t have the expertise to suggest how you flag that problem. [Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed
We should remove the patch, it would be better to not display the control than having some non working, there isn't enough need for synaptic nowadays to justify making work to restore the backend (also it wouldn't work for wayland which is our default session) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => Low ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970284 Title: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1970284/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed
I'm guessing upstream gnome-control-center has retired support for changing the Synaptics settings, in favor of libinput. If so then we should drop Expose-touchpad-settings-if-synaptics-is-in- use.patch so the user is not given touchpad controls. ** Summary changed: - Touch to click cannot be turned off + Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970284 Title: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1970284/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
