Public bug reported:

1) Version: Ubuntu 6.10 edgy

2) Hardware: ASUS P5LD2 Intel Pentium D 3.20 CPU with two internal
Seagate 500G SATA drives and two DVD RW PATA drives. The SATA drives
are configured at /dev/sda (NTFS) and /dev/sdb (ext3 & swap).

3) Bug: sudo apt-get upgrade downloads and installs updates BUT it
changes root(0,0) to root (0,1) every time resulting in boot failure and
error message: "Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition".

4) Expected Result: Expected that it would not change root(0,0) to
root(0,1) and not result in boot failure and error message "Error 17:
Cannot mount selected partition"

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
