[Bug 1975945] Re: Update gnome-control-center to 41.7

2022-05-31 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-control-center into jammy-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-
center/1:41.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1975945] Re: Update gnome-control-center to 41.7

2022-05-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Impact
  --
+ There was a new bugfix release in the stable 41 series.
+ 6 of these commits were already in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

- Test Case
- -
+ New changes:
+ - Translation updates (because of Ubuntu language packs, this has no effect
until the next language pack update, which is a few months away)
+ - info-overview: Allow changing "Device Name" by pressing "Enter"
+ - wwan: Remove duplicate line from .desktop
+ - keyboard: Avoid segfault due to no "data" for `custom_shortcut_add_row`
+ - network: Fix saving passwords for non-wifi connections
+ - info-overview: Remove trailing space after CPU name
+
+ Test Case 1
+ ---
+ Install the update.
+ Make sure that gnome-control-center continues to run well.
+
+ Test Case 2
+ ---
+ Install gnome-session
+ Log out.
+ Click your name on the login screen.
+ Click the gear in the bottom right corner and choose GNOME.
+ Finish logging in.
+ Make sure that gnome-control-center continues to run well.
+
+ This test case is because some of our Ubuntu customizations only show in
+ the Ubuntu session, not other sessions like vanilla GNOME.
+
+ Test Case 3
+ ---
+ Open gnome-control-center
+ Click the last item in the left sidebar named About
+ Click Device Name.
+ Type in a different name for your computer.
+ Press Enter.
+ The Rename Device dialog should close and your new computer name should take
effect.
+

  What Could Go Wrong
  ---
+ gnome-control-center is used by Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Budgie.
+ It is a critical app for viewing and changing a huge variety of settings for
these desktops.
+
+ gnome-control-center is part of GNOME Core and has a microrelease
+ exception for Ubuntu stable release updates.
