I updated to Hardy Beta (and beyond) and the iwl3945 driver now works. But the light still doesn't come on. When I turned the wireless off, the ksysirqd daemon went nuts.and started eating up my processor. I decided to restart the machine and when I did, a message scrolled onto the screen that said the iwl3945 driver had an error in the driver's microcode. I have a Dell Latitude D630 with the same wireless card. Gutsy seems to be using the iwl3945 drivers (http://intellinuxwireless.org/). I believe that the drivers for 7.10 are now deprcated (http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/). I will say that with the newer drivers, I am not able to access my wep enabled router where a was with 7.10. Fortunately, I repartitioned and am dual booting. Yes, I also have a Dell Inspiron (actually, the first series that Dell sold with Ubuntu pre-installed) and the intel wireless will not work. The light which comes on under 7.04 and 7.10 does not come on under 8.04 alpha 3. I recently tried the Alpha 6 amd64 release, and it would not work either.
