[Bug 201180] Re: [hardy] kernel 2.6.24-12 breaks wireless (Atheros AR242x)

2009-04-13 Thread Brad Figg
This bug was reported a while ago but there hasn't been any recent
comments or updates. Is this still an issue with the latest pre-release
of Jaunty 9.04? Refer to http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/beta .
Please let us know.

[Bug 201180] Re: [hardy] kernel 2.6.24-12 breaks wireless (Atheros AR242x)

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 201180] Re: [hardy] kernel 2.6.24-12 breaks wireless (Atheros AR242x)

2008-08-13 Thread Simon Jagoe
I am experiencing this problem with the 2.6.24-19 kernel and restricted
modules. I have found that post-install, running depmed fixes the issue,
but I was wondering if there is a way to get around the problem during
install. I am performing an unattended installation (using debconf
preseed), and need to have a working system without any manual
intervention (as I need to deploy multiple systems in this way).

dmesg output is below (but not very exciting -- it is the same as has
been posted above before)

$ dmesg | grep ath_pci
[ 30.085096] ath_pci: Unknown symbol _ath_hal_attach
[ 30.085316] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_process_noisefloor
[ 30.086045] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_computetxtime
[ 30.086676] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_mhz2ieee
[ 30.086958] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_detach
[ 30.088095] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_probe
[ 30.089480] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_init_channels
[ 30.089985] ath_pci: Unknown symbol ath_hal_getwirelessmodes

$ lspci | grep Wireless
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC
(rev 01)

Does anybody know if this works with the 2.6.24-18 kernel and restricted
modules?

I think I can now confirm that -18 does not have this problem.

[Bug 201180] Re: [hardy] kernel 2.6.24-12 breaks wireless (Atheros AR242x)

2008-06-07 Thread Fabián Rodríguez
Please disregard my last 2 comments. I had this issue confused with
another similar one.

I am now going through all bugs I marked as duplicates and
unmarking/keeping marked as appropriate.

I was a bit fast with my gun on this one, apologies to all involved.
