[Bug 202519] Re: hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types
And you don't see the PDF in the applications list right? Also, check your about:plugins about pdf, maybe you have an app trying to control it ** Attachment added: "firefox-applications.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13041968/firefox-applications.png -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 202519] Re: hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types
I just wanted to be sure your mime database is updated :) You're sure you don't have any add-ons for pdf installed or using adobe reader? Maybe you should file a different bug about it, since it's pdf only? -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 202519] Re: hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types
Reboot? What is this Windows? :P I'm just kidding... I rebooted this morning after the latest updates because Firefox wouldn't start after being closed after the updates (I ps aux'd | grep firefox and no open instances of firefox or the npviewer (flash)) Anyway -- I did the --reinstall and then the -f ... nothing changed. I've attached a screenshot of the "File Open" dialog I receive since Beta 4. Again, I ONLY receive this dialog with PDFs. ** Attachment added: "Pop-up Dialog to Save PDFs since Firefox 3 Beta 4" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13032083/firefox3b4_pdf_dialog.png -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 202519] Re: hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types
I also tried editing the about:config to force "AlwaysAsk" for files and that didn't change the behavior either.
It's partially fixed... does anybody else have the issue with opening PDFs? I am prompted with two options "Save" or "Cancel"... In Firefox 3.0b3 I could choose which application to open the PDF with. These are "streaming PDFs" ... meaning they're generated on the fly by the website. The saved PDF files generate proper previews and open without issues in Gnome... the mime type is listed as "application/pdf" and there have been no code in the website between b3 and b4 being updated to Hardy... PDF is not listed in the Firefox Preferences for File Formats / Actions... I've deleted my firefox profile directory and that has not resolved the issue either. -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is this related to (or a duplicate of) Bug #202113? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/202113 -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 202519] Re: hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types
sorry for putting '2 comments' I don't see an option to edit my comment?.. any ways I also noticed that if you click on the "open with firefox-3.0b4" then click cancel. Then some times(not always) the 'open with' option thing changes to show the correct default option, and open your file with the correct default app.(but this problem will still be there next time you click on a file :( ) Also I am using kubuntu(kde) if that matters? -- hardy - need default "open with" applications for standard content types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
