[Bug 2064930] Re: dnsmasq cannot execute at systemctl
Nick, were there any other issues here? Sorry for letting this expire. It looks like there's 2 improvements that could be made, but don't seem high priority if nothing functional is really breaking - 1) check that the port is available in the maintainer script 2) if port is not open, create a descriptive error/warning ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064930 Title: dnsmasq cannot execute at systemctl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/2064930/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064930] Re: dnsmasq cannot execute at systemctl
Thanks for checking, just looking through your output, you have the same issue as me (just before the Processing.theiggers for man-db) you have the message 'Could not execute systemctl: at /usr/bin/deb-systemd-invoke line 148.' Having dug a bit further, this is because dnsmasq cannot listen on port 53 (resolv is already listening here). Disabling resolv solves the issue, so I think that the only issue here is that the error message isn't very clear (at lease to me) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064930 Title: dnsmasq cannot execute at systemctl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/2064930/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and trying to make Ubuntu better.
