[Bug 207021] Re: spe doesn't save positions of window splitters

2008-03-26 Thread bayger
@stani:
Indeed, I think that moving everything to the launchpad may be a time consuming
operation. So you are probably right, this doesn't make sense for now. I posted
this bug here because I didn't know about berlios, and because you wanted me to
test the svn version in another bug (which I did). So I assumed that this is
the place for all reports. I was wrong... :)
Anyway, I want to help you with SPE, so I will post my reports to the berlios.
SPE is great editor/ide for me. I am a complete Python beginner, so probably I
wouldn't be useful as SPE developer/bug fixer (at least for now). Only bug
reports for now. :)

[Bug 207021] Re: spe doesn't save positions of window splitters

2008-03-26 Thread stani
For the development of SPE, I use only one feature and bug tracker which
is on berlios. I just wanted to make clear that reporting a bug here,
but not upstream on berlios makes no sense. As Matthias commented,
marking the bug as invalid was probably not correct.

@bayger:
> This is some kind of schizophrenic situation: one bug here, one bug there.
I exactly want to avoid that bugs are not centralised: if you want me to fix
the bug, report it on berlios. You can imagine that I can't look for all bug
pages on fedora, opensuse, mandriva, as well... I just happen to use Ubuntu
myself, so I work closely together with MOTU to support the packaging of SPE.
This does not mean however that I use the launchpad page of the SPE package on
ubuntu as a bug tracker for the upstream SPE application.

> What do you think about moving bug tracking completely to the launchpad?
I might move from berlios to launchpad in a *far* future, but in that case I
want to move everything (all bug, feature history, but also to move from
subversion to bazaar, mailing lists, file downloads, ...) I don't have the time
to do that and I am not sure if launchpad supports all these features (such as
mailing lists, file downloads). I know that they are planned. If you want to
see this move sooner, nobody prevents you to help me with it. With the time you
save me for that, I might implement your requested feature.

@Matthias:
As he was reporting about the svn version, I felt he was confusing the
spe(Ubuntu) package with spe upstream.
> If the bug is found upstream as well, then mark it in "Also affects project".
I didn' t know launchpad can interact with Berlios.

@stani:
What do you think about moving bug tracking completely to the launchpad? This
is some kind of schizophrenic situation: one bug here, one bug there. I'm sure
you would be more happy if you had one place for all the bugs. This is only my
suggestion. Anyway, I posted feature request to the berlios as well.

Regards.

Yes, but in this case the user is not using the Ubuntu package, but an
svnsnapshot, so Stani's result, even if the rationale was not the best.

packaging of SPE

Sorry, this is just wrong. Users are encouraged to report bugs about
software included in Ubuntu. If the bug is found upstream as well, then
mark it in "Also affects project". Bugs are closed upstream and in the
distribution at different times. Having the but reported for upstream
and for Ubuntu makes this track keeping easy.

[Bug 207021] Re: spe doesn't save positions of window splitters

2008-03-26 Thread stani
You should only use spe(Ubuntu) on launchpad for bugs related to the
packaging of SPE. All other bugs and feature requests should be done on
the Berlios project page of SPE:
http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?group_id=4161 Note that what you are
reporting is not really a bug as SPE was not designed to implement this
feature. Therefore file it as a wishlist bug on Berlios.
