[Bug 207431] Re: [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM
I confirm this. Using 8.04.1 (ando 8.04) Alternate CD and LiveCD. I'll attach more information when I have access to the machine. -- [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207431] Re: [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM
I have the same problem on a fresh Dell PowerEdge T105 server. The LiveCD works well. The server install stops at mounting the DVD drive; Mounting manually results in "invalid argument". ** Changed in: cdrom-detect (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207431] Re: [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM
Did some further testing. Hardy desktop (live) doesn't work either. I end up with an initramfs prompt. Before that a lot of buffer I/O errors on device sr0 is shown Gutsy alternate is working fine. Debian stable/testing both work fine too. -- [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207431] Re: [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM
I'm experiencing this on hardy final alternate cdrom too. The debian installer immediately stops when it tries to mount the cdrom. If I switch to the console and try to mount the cdrom, if gives me the "invalid argument" error. On beta I was able to boot from the live environment, but was unable to configure my LVM. Alternate is needed. I'll check now to see if the hardy final live cdrom works, just to track down the problem. -- [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207431] Re: [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM
Does the corresponding Ubuntu desktop (live) CD boot successfully? (I'm not asking you to install from it; but this piece of information is useful in narrowing down whether it's a kernel bug or a bug in the way the installer images are constructed.) ** Changed in: cdrom-detect (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: debian-installer => cdrom-detect Assignee: (unassigned) => Colin Watson (kamion) Status: New => Incomplete -- [amd64 8.04 beta] Cannot detect CDROM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
